The construction work at the Spotify Camp Nou has remained one of the main talking points regarding FC Barcelona, for better or for worse, in the last few months.

The Catalans have missed several deadlines that the current administration had given to the fans regarding this return. As things stand, the Blaugranes are still not able to play their home games at the stadium, even though the return seems to be quite close at hand.

Meanwhile, construction work is continuing at the site, and one of the points on which work is being done with great urgency is the third tier of the stadium’s lateral stand.

According to Mundo Deportivo, construction company Limak began work on the third tier of the stadium’s lateral stand roughly ten days ago. Since then, progress has been swift.

The foundations have already been laid in the lower section, where future seating will be installed. Several sections of the third ring have even been completed, reaching what will ultimately become the highest point of the stadium, just below the roof.

Work on the lateral stand is expected to continue for several more days before moving sequentially to the North Goal, the South Goal, and finally the main grandstand. Each phase will bring the stadium one step closer to completion.

Barcelona are still awaiting the City Council’s approval for License 1A, which would allow them to open the stadium with a reduced capacity of around 27,000 spectators.

However, the club intends to wait for License 1B, which would increase that number to approximately 45,000 fans. Optimism remains high that once the first license is issued, the second will soon follow.

In the meantime, Barcelona will continue to play their home matches at the Lluis Companys Olympic Stadium. The next two games, against Girona and Olympiakos, will take place there, followed by home fixtures in November against Elche, Athletic Club, and Alaves.

The match against Alaves, scheduled for the final weekend of November, could coincide with Barcelona’s 126th anniversary, making it a symbolic occasion that may also mark their long-awaited return to the Camp Nou.
