With the 2025/26 Premier League season entering its final stretch, Sunderland are already eyeing summer reinforcements after a fruitful foray into Europe last year. The Black Cats remain in the hunt for an unlikely European berth, but intend to strengthen regardless.

According to Sunderland Echo, six standouts from across the continent have been highlighted as potential targets for Regis Le Bris’s side this summer.

Bradley Locko of Stade Brestois could refresh the left flank with progressive ball-carrying and reliable one-on-one defending. Genoa’s Morten Frendrup profiles as a tireless ball-winner to complement Sunderland’s creators.

Valencia striker Hugo Duro offers intense pressing and clever movement to disrupt backlines and create space for runners. Wolfsburg winger Patrick Wimmer brings high work-rate and chance creation, and his situation could ease a deal if they go down.

Villarreal centre-back Logan Costa would add powerful aerial presence and composure in possession, bolstering depth alongside Dan Ballard and Omar Alderete. AZ Alkmaar playmaker Sven Mijnans supplies vision and late box entries, giving cover and competition for Enzo Le Fée.

Europe delivered last summer with Granit Xhaka, Nordi Mukiele, Robin Roefs and Noah Sadiki thriving since their arrivals. Sunderland could now return to the same market to build on a superb top-flight campaign.
