Six in a row: Arsenal star makes Nations League history with another goal

Viktor Gyokeres has continued his excellent international form by making UEFA Nations League history with Sweden.

The Arsenal striker was on target again as Sweden drew 1-1 away to Bosnia and Herzegovina on Friday night, maintaining his remarkable scoring sequence in the competition.

Gyokeres has now scored in each of Sweden’s opening three Nations League matches this campaign, following goals against Romania and Poland.

More impressively, his latest strike means he has scored in six consecutive Nations League appearances, becoming the first player in the history of the competition to achieve that feat, as reported by Arsenal.

Gyokeres continues remarkable Sweden scoring run

The sequence stretches back to October 2024 and has now continued into the current campaign.

It is further evidence of just how prolific Gyokeres can be when operating in a system that gets the best from his strengths.

We recently looked at exactly that following his goals for Sweden, with the striker continuing to look dangerous when given opportunities to attack space and get into goalscoring positions.

His latest goal was not enough to secure all three points in Bosnia, but Sweden remain top of League B Group 4, two points ahead of their hosts.

Can Arsenal unlock the same Gyokeres?

For Arsenal supporters, the interesting part is naturally what his international form means when he returns to North London.

Gyokeres has already made it clear that remaining at Arsenal was never in doubt for him, despite speculation surrounding his future.

Three goals in three Nations League matches certainly provide another reminder of what the 28-year-old can offer.

International football and the Premier League are obviously different challenges, but confidence matters enormously for a striker.

Gyokeres will now have another opportunity to extend his record when Sweden face Romania in their next Nations League fixture.

Arsenal will simply hope their striker returns to the Emirates fit, confident and ready to transfer that scoring touch back into club football.

Can Arsenal find a way to get the same prolific Gyokeres we continue to see for Sweden? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
