Michael Skubala has reunited with former Leeds United attacker Sam Greenwood, with Bristol City unveiling the 24-year-old as their second summer signing. He joins on a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee, after Skubala arrived from Lincoln City at the end of May.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the pair previously worked together at Leeds, initially with the under-21s before moving into first-team duties. Greenwood had loans at Middlesbrough and Preston North End, then left Elland Road last summer for Pogon Szczecin as the Polish club’s record signing, and now returns to English football.
Skubala said Greenwood fits the profile Bristol City are targeting, describing him as young, driven and already experienced at senior level. He added that staff are keen to get to work and see his progress over the coming season.
Greenwood expressed delight at joining, saying the club’s ambition and a look around the stadium gave him a real buzz. He pledged to give everything for the team and aims to contribute goals and assists.
Elsewhere, Brentford are assessing a move for former Leeds loanee Jaidon Anthony, who spent 2023-24 at Elland Road from Bournemouth before joining Burnley permanently in May 2025. Burnley are preparing for Championship football, and Brentford have held initial talks with the Clarets over Anthony and team-mate Zian Flemming.
