Sky reporter Kaveh Solhekol believes Chelsea’s big egos will fall into line as soon as Xabi Alonso enters the building.
And that will be very soon now, with the club officially announcing him as the new Chelsea manager over the weekend.

It was a very tactical announcement, coming soon after Chelsea had just lost to Manchester City in the FA Cup final. You had a sense that perhaps they would have waited a bit longer, maybe even until the end of the season, had they not lost that final and missed out on winning a trophy this season.
However, Chelsea fans are buzzing, and the players too are also pretty excited about the appointment apparently. So it’s a very positive appointment for the Chelsea owners who are battling hard to get fans back on side.

That is the belief of Kaveh Solhekol of Sky Sports anyway. In words quoted on X over the weekend, Kaveh said:
“I think those big egos at Chelsea will fall into line as soon as Xabi Alonso enters the building, because they’ll look at him and they will immediately respect him and do exactly what he says, and also they will know that the Chelsea ownership will always back Xabi Alonso, because he is their man, and that’s why they’ve given him a four year contract.”
Xabi Alonso believes the Chelsea squad can be shaped in his image, but a few tweaks will be required according to reports over the weekend.
Chelsea expect to be seriously challenging for the Premier League within three seasons, if not sooner according to reports. Chelsea fans will be demanding it be earlier than three seasons though!
