Sosa e Colidio: why Vasco advanced both deals on the same day | OneFootball

Vasco accelerated two Argentine moves on 31 July, progressing a deal for Racing midfielder Santiago Sosa and stepping up talks with River Plate forward Facundo Colidio.

According to Globo.com, the timing aligned with Argentina’s window closing on Friday and a rule that grants clubs selling abroad outside that period an extra signing window until two September, adding 32 days beyond the initial phase.

Director of football Admar Lopes travelled to Buenos Aires early in the week to formalise Sosa’s agreement, and also used the trip to negotiate for Colidio, who had been on the club’s list for months.

Sosa’s salary terms with Vasco have been in place since last Saturday. He was offered almost three times his current wages and told Racing he wants the move, while continuing to play as final details are arranged.

Vasco and Racing are aligned on a fee of about US$ seven million. The Rio side will pay an upfront sum, with the balance in instalments from the end of 2026.

Colidio’s case is similar, with salary terms agreed and the striker giving the green light to the transfer. There is an expectation of a positive outcome in both negotiations.

Inside the club, Vasco’s hierarchy view the out-of-window conclusions as coincidental, though this practice is common in Argentine football, which allows exceptions within its own windows for clubs to source replacements after sales.
