The goalkeeper replaced Gavin Bazunu as the first-choice between the sticks in Tonda Eckert’s side, and his arrival has coincided with the club’s return to promotion contention.

The Hampshire outfit had a miserable start to the campaign, but they have been able to work their way back up to a top six position following their 1-0 victory over Norwich City midweek.

The 25-year-old kept his fifth clean sheet in 12 Championship appearances with the victory over the Canaries, earning man of the match in the process.

Peretz arrived on loan from the Bundesliga giants, and it’s been reported that the Saints are keen to keep him on a permanent basis amid their option to buy clause.

He will be hoping that a permanent move to St. Mary’s in the summer will come following promotion success, with Southampton’s sights set on Premier League football next season.

He is already looking forward to getting back in action this weekend, with the club now in a prime position to earn a play-off place in the Championship this year.

Teammate Leo Scienza issued two messages in response to the goalkeeper, one in which he posted just three octopus emojis in celebration of his match-winning performance in goals for Southampton midweek.

“You’re so good,” he replied.

“And very beautiful.

“And a great guy.

“And my friend.”

Peretz has firmly established himself as the first-choice goalkeeper under Eckert since his winter arrival, with Bazunu being loaned out to Stoke following his arrival.

Meanwhile, Scienza has also become an important part of the squad, with the 27-year-old contributing six goals and eight assists from 30 appearances in the league so far this campaign.

Southampton moved up to sixth in the table with their 1-0 win at home to Norwich on Wednesday evening.

The Saints will be hoping to maintain their place in the play-off places with their final game before the March international break this weekend.

The Saints will host an in-form Oxford United side at St. Mary’s on Saturday in a 3pm kick-off.

Daniel Peretz permanent transfer is now a no-brainer move

Peretz has made a big impact since joining in the January window, and a deal for him to stay at Southampton is now surely inevitable.

The shot-stopper has been a positive influence on the team and seemingly the dressing room as well, improving the team’s defensive record in place of Bazunu.

Given his lack of game time at Bayern Munich, this move has been a great step in his career and he is now playing regularly, with the potential to compete in the Premier League in the future.
