Southampton’s Eckert says club plan to replace analyst after Schmidt exit | OneFootball

Southampton head coach Tonda Eckert says the club intend to bring in another analyst following Eduard Schmidt’s departure.

"I think there's one more analyst that's going to be joining us," he told the Daily Echo.

Schmidt joined midway through last season but announced earlier this month that he would be leaving the club. He previously worked at Hannover and Paderborn.

He said the contract was ended by mutual agreement before the new campaign and reflected on a run that included only one league defeat in January and an FA Cup semi-final loss to Manchester City at Wembley.

Schmidt thanked Southampton for the experience, suggested he may take a short break to reset, and added that he will be back.
