The RFEF are ready to reward Spanish national team head coach Luis de la Fuente for his ongoing excellence on the country’s bench. This comes amid confirmation that a new contract is being finalised for the tactician.
De la Fuente is for his part of course fresh off nothing short of a historic summer.
After guiding Spain into the World Cup in North America, the 65-year-old oversaw one of the most impressive campaigns in the competition’s storied history.
En route to lifting the trophy courtesy of a finale triumph over then-holders Argentina, La Roja racked up seven wins, 14 goals scored, and just one conceded.
Added to previous triumphs in both the Nations League and European Championships, it should therefore come as little surprise to learn of the Spanish football authorities planning to continue their journey with De la Fuente for the years ahead.
Speaking during an appearance in front of the media on Wednesday, RFEF president Rafael Louzan confirmed:
“We have the best coach in our history; the results guarantee it. We are finalising the agreement for him to stay with us for a few more years.”
