Aune Heggebo struck in the 50th minute to set West Bromwich Albion on their way to a 2-0 win over Sheffield United at the Hawthorns.

The forward broke the game open after the restart, arriving through the middle to turn in a George Campbell cross on the counter. It was the clearest example of Albion's threat in transition, with Heggebo timing his run to perfection.

He then led another break to create the cushion, sliding a pass for Karlan Ahearne-Grant to rifle into the top right corner (61.). That move again punished the Blades as they were caught with bodies ahead of the ball.

Heggebo kept asking questions, combining strongly and feeding Isaac Price for a close-range effort that Michael Cooper saved (67.). He finished with three attempts, two key passes and six possessions won, plus two tackles won, underlining his work rate as well as his end product.

Because Albion repeatedly sprang forward at pace, his direct running and first-time decisions stretched Sheffield United and ensured West Bromwich Albion controlled the game's key moments.

West Bromwich Albion rise from 16th to 14th in the Championship. They visit Hull next. The Blades host Birmingham next.
