Mathias de Amorim halved the deficit in the 67th minute with a precise low finish, setting up a comeback as Famalicão drew 2-2 with Benfica. The midfielder then supplied the equaliser to crown a standout all-round display.
Drifting in from the left, de Amorim took aim and found the bottom left corner (67.), catching the Águias' back line square and shifting the game's momentum.
From a corner, de Amorim then hung up a teasing cross that was turned in for the leveller (78.), with the Encarnados unable to deal with his delivery under pressure.
He kept carrying threat to the end, sending a late effort over in the first minute of second half stoppage time.
The midfielder's output matched the eye test: one goal and one assist, 13 recoveries, five tackles, and 22 successful passes from 25, including seven in the final third. Those numbers underlined how he linked phases and repeatedly regained the ball to keep Famalicão on the front foot.
His constant movement from the left into central pockets unsettled the visitors' shape, while his set piece quality ensured Famalicão controlled key moments around the box.
Famalicão visit Estrela Amadora next. The Encarnados host Braga.
