Stats show how solid Lucumi has made Juventus defence | OneFootball

Jhon Lucumi wanted to move to Juventus at all costs in the summer, despite having several other clubs interested in signing him, including Como and Bournemouth.

However, as he wanted to leave Bologna, Lucumi was convinced that Juventus was the only club he should try to join. He was therefore determined to complete a move to the Allianz Stadium and begin a new chapter with the Bianconeri.

Juve were also keen to seal a deal for the defender, having long believed that he would be the perfect partner for Gleison Bremer. That belief appears to be proving correct since Lucumi joined the Old Lady.

It took some time for the deal to be finalised, but once it was completed, the defender arrived in Turin and quickly began showing why Juventus wanted him. So far, he has been superb and looks like the player their defence had been missing.

Lucumi strengthens Juventus defence

Juventus already have several top players capable of playing in defence, but Lucumi has taken the position to a new level. His presence has helped make the Bianconeri extremely difficult to score against since he arrived at the club.

His performances have also given Juventus another strong option at the back, while his partnership with Bremer is becoming increasingly important. The club will hope that the pair can continue developing their understanding.

Lucumi’s impact has been particularly noticeable when looking at the number of goals Juventus have conceded while he has been on the pitch. His defensive contribution has helped the team maintain a strong record.

Juventus have conceded just once with Lucumi

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Juventus have conceded only one goal when Lucumi has been on the pitch, and that came against AC Milan.

The defender also played in the match against Sassuolo, but he was substituted at half-time with the score still 0-0. No goal was therefore scored while he was on the pitch in that game.

Those statistics highlight how effective Lucumi has been since joining Juventus. After being determined to move to Turin despite interest from other clubs, he is now showing why the Bianconeri were so eager to sign him.

His early performances will encourage Juventus, who will hope he can maintain this level and continue making their defence harder to break down as the season progresses.
