Angers SCO open a new chapter under Stéphane Gilli, with the spine of the squad intact and youngsters again having a part to play. L'Équipe reports that continuity, not upheaval, will shape the start of his tenure.
In July, Angers beat Créteil 2-1 in a friendly. They conclude their preparations on Saturday against Paris FC at Raymond-Kopa.
Gilli noted the irony that he arranged the Paris FC fixture months ago while still at the club, and at the time he did not imagine he would be in the opposite dugout.
The Hérault-born coach, 52, was dismissed by Paris FC in February, the day after matchday 23.
He has since succeeded Alexandre Dujeux at Angers, following Dujeux's move to Lorient. Dujeux left at the end of a cycle, having delivered promotion back to Ligue One and two top-flight survivals.
