South African tactician Steve Barker registered his first league victory in charge of Tanzanian giants Simba SC, amid a slow start to his reign.
The Reds of Msimbazi brushed Mashujaa aside on Thursday, thanks to goals from recently signed Libasse Gueye and Selemani Mwalimu on either half.
Simba moved up to fourth on the NBC Tanzanian Premier League standings, and trail bitter rivals Young Africans with six points, having played one game less.
Barker and his troops will now shift their attention to the CAF Champions League, where they are set to host Tunisian heavyweights Esperance de Tunis on Sunday, 01 February.
Simba sit bottom of Group D as they lost their opening three matches in Africa's elite club competition, following a defeat to Esperance at the weekend.
The South African mentor has been tasked with defending the club's proud record of advancing to the knockout stages of the Champions League whenever they participate.
Simba will have to win their remaining three games to stand a chance of sealing progression to the next stage of the competition, with clashes against Petro de Luanda and Stade Malien also looming.
On the Domestic stage, Barker, who dumped Stellenbosch for Simba last month, is expected to topple Yanga, who have won four championships on the trot.
