Bild reports that an agreement has not yet been reached between Borussia Mönchengladbach and Lukas Ullrich over a new contract.
The 21-year-old’s current deal expires in 2027, and Gladbach have offered an extension until 2029, but there is dissatisfaction on the player side due to the salary offered and other contract details. It was previously reported that the contract offer would have increased Ullrich’s salary to €2.5m.
This presents two scenarios for the future of the left-back now.
One is that he is sold, as Ullrich has begun to attract interest from the Premier League, with Tottenham and Brighton linked, due to his performances last season for Gladbach, as well as his cameos at the under-21 Euros with Germany.
While the other scenario is that Ullrich chooses to run down his contract, which expires in two years and leaves on a free transfer. It is suggested that the 21-year-old could earn as much from a signing-on fee if he moves to a club on a free transfer, as he would if he received a pay increase at Gladbach.
