Strasbourg beat Metz 2-1 at Stade de la Meinau to end a five-match league winless run and rise from eighth to seventh in Ligue 1.

In the 12th minute Diego Moreira put the hosts ahead, finishing after Julio Enciso's pass.

Martial Godo restored the advantage with a glancing header from Guéla Doué's delivery (43.).

Metz goalkeeper Jonathan Fischer made five saves as Le Racing kept pressing either side of the interval, while the visitors were limited to two efforts on target.

Le Racing registered 14 attempts, with six on target. Metz produced nine attempts and one corner.

The result lifts Le Racing to seventh. Metz remain 18th. Next, Le Racing visit Lille. Metz host Lyon.
