Eight buses carrying Strasbourg supporters were held for several hours by German police at the border for searches, reducing the planned convoy before the European quarter-final in Mainz. At 200 km from Strasbourg, the city felt much farther for hundreds of Racing fans.

Checks were carried out in a car park under strong sun. The club said in a statement that the exceptionally long controls significantly disrupted the arrival of part of the 2,300 travelling supporters and it thanked fans for their patience and calm.

Alerted to the situation, RCSA held phone talks with the authorities. Five club-booked buses, reserved to take all of its employees, were among those stopped.

With 1 hour 30 until kick-off, four vehicles were still on the road.

Club staff already in Mainz organised a march from the city towards the stadium for about 1,000 supporters already present, despite the difficult circumstances.
