Stuttgart mull over replacing injured Seimen as potential candidates emerge | OneFootball

VfB Stuttgart confirmed yesterday that their new number one Dennis Seimen will be sidelined until the end of September due to a muscle injury in his thigh. As a result, the club bosses have to make a decision on how to deal with the absence of the 20-year-old as there will also be Champions League nights during that time.

Sky Sports earlier reported Stuttgart currently have no plans to sign a replacement, with Fabian Bredlow expected to step up following his strong performance in last season's DFB-Pokal semi-final victory over SC Freiburg.

"Our personnel planning for the coming season was known to be largely completed. We have a lot of quality in our goalkeeping team even without Dennis (Seimen), but we have to discuss in the coming days whether we will become active in the transfer market again," said sports director Fabian Wohlgemuth yesterday

Stefan Drljaca and new signing Marius Funk will be backups if Bredlow deputizes as the starting goalkeeper until Seimen’s return. Stuttgart trust the Germany U21 international to start between the posts after the end of Alexander Nübel’s three-year loan spell.

Former Manchester City shot-stopper Stefan Ortega and World Cup star Ørjan Nyland have been mentioned as potential short-term options, but there have been no movements from the Swabians so far. Ortega is heavily linked with Olympiacos, while former RB Leipzig goalkeeper Nyland is searching for a new club after his strong tournament for Norway in North America.
