In a recent report, Mundo Deportivo stated that Sunderland are in the mix to sign Monaco striker Folarin Balogun. It is understood that the Black Cats would have to compete with Juventus and Borussia Dortmund in the race to land the United States forward this off-season.

Balogun’s Impressive Form In English Football

Balogun enjoyed a decent run of form at the French club in the previous campaign after he produced a string of impressive displays for them on the offensive end of the field. The 25-year-old banged in 19 goals and secured five assists in 43 matches for Monaco last season across various competitions.

The United States talent is currently one of the most talented strikers in Ligue 1. Thus, the Black Cats would do well to bring him to the Stadium of Light in this transfer period.

His current contract at the French club will run out in the summer of 2028, which could make it tough for Sunderland to sign him on a cut-price deal later this year.

What Will Balogun Add To Sunderland Boss Regis Le Bris’ Side?

Balogun can engineer some space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He has got the eye to create the odd chance for his teammates in the final third and is usually quite clever with his movements in and around the opponent’s penalty area.

The United States talent can even contribute by scoring and creating his fair share of goals up top. Balogun has got very little experience in the Premier League and would need time to settle into life at the Wearside club if they manage to win the race for his services.

We can expect Balogun to add more quality and depth to Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris’ attack. He is good enough to compete for a regular first-team spot at the Stadium of Light next season.

At 25, Balogun has got his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a decent choice for the Black Cats to pursue in this summer transfer period. However, Le Bris has to give him some time to adjust to life in the Premier League before he can get the best out of the talented striker at the Wearside club.
