In a recent report, The Sunderland Echo revealed that Sunderland are showing interest in Royal Antwerp midfielder Jules Ahoka this summer. It has been mentioned that the Black Cats are eyeing a move to acquire the services of the Congolese talent this month.
Ahoka came through the youth ranks of Royal Antwerp, but missed a lot of games last season because of injuries. The 20-year-old has made four senior appearances for the Belgian outfit so far, but has failed to score or create a goal for them across multiple competitions.
The Congolese youngster is currently one of the most promising young central midfielders in the Jupiler Pro League. Therefore, the Black Cats would do well to get a deal done for him in this transfer period.
His current contract at the Belgian club will run out in the summer of 2029, which could make it tough for Sunderland to land on a cut-price deal this month.

Ahoka is a good tackler of the ball and can scan the danger well to earn possession back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the offensive and is an accurate passer as well from midfield.
The Congolese talent is primarily a defensive midfielder but can also fill in as a centre-back or as a box-to-box midfielder if asked to do so by his manager. However, Ahoka is still quite raw and would need time to prove his worth in the Premier League if the Black Cats manage to sign him in this summer transfer window.
We can expect Ahoka to improve the quality of Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris’ midfield. He has what it takes to fight for a regular first-team spot at the Wearside club in the coming seasons.
At 20, Ahoka has the potential to be a world-class player in his position someday. We can expect him to add more depth to Le Bris’ match-day squad. Thus, Le Bris would be wise to go all out to bring Ahoka to the Stadium of Light before the end of this month.
