He wants to spend more time in London with his family before pursuing the next stage of his career in football and business leadership. He will remain in post throughout September to oversee a transition and continue work on major capital expenditure projects, recruitment and preparations for the club’s Premier League and Europa League campaigns.

Appointed in July 2024, Kingsmore has overseen capital programmes, safety, security, facilities, matchday operations, HR and IT. His tenure has delivered infrastructure and facility upgrades, bolstered fan engagement and strengthened the club’s wider operation during a period of growth.

Before Sunderland, he spent more than four years as Chelsea’s director of operations from September 2018 to February 2023, covering facilities, ICT, security, health and safety and matchday operations.
