Leo Pearlman has congratulated David Bruce on becoming Sheffield Wednesday’s chief executive and acknowledged the club’s takeover by Arise Capital Partners.

Pearlman said in a post that Wednesday are a proper club with history, identity and strong support, recalling the play-off semi-final at Hillsborough as one of the best atmospheres he has experienced.

Bruce has been confirmed as Wednesday’s new CEO after leaving his role as Sunderland’s chief business officer, with his departure announced last month during a wider organisational restructure.

Pearlman praised Bruce’s work at Sunderland in reconnecting the club with the city and supporters, and highlighted similarities between Sunderland and Wednesday as proud, working-class places with fanbases that value authenticity and connection.

He also applauded Arise Capital Partners for prioritising fan relations following the takeover, and said he was sure Bruce and Wednesday would return to the Premier League before too long, alongside Sunderland.
