Sunderland in talks to sign Marseille’s Igor Paixão | OneFootball

Sunderland have seen a bid for Igor Paixão (26) rejected by Olympique de Marseille, as per a report from Foot Mercato. Discussions between the two clubs are ongoing.

Marseille want to keep Paixão, ideally, but the club’s dire financial situation means that they are not in a position to turn down a strong offer for the Brazilian, just one year after his arrival. The Brazilian excelled on OM’s left and also continued to look sharp in pre-season. With Mason Greenwood gone, Paixão looked to be the leader of the attack, but also one of the players most susceptible to a big bid.

An offer has arrived from Sunderland but it is not enough to convince the French club to sell just yet, although talks between the two clubs are ongoing. La Provence makes reference to not just one bid but several. The publication understands that the last was valued at €30m.
