According to Sunderland Echo, Sunderland have been linked with Lucas Stassin, Emil Holm and Lutsharel Geertruida. Porto are said to be in concrete talks over Stassin.

The 21-year-old Saint-Etienne forward is expected to move this summer after an impressive Ligue 2 season, scoring 11 and assisting eight in 31 games.

Saint-Etienne are said to have rebuffed early approaches and set a €35million fee plus €7million in add-ons, roughly £29.9million plus £6million, around £35.9million in total. Porto won the league last season and could offer a major European platform.

Sunderland would also fit the step he is thought to be seeking, preparing for another Premier League campaign under Régis Le Bris. Europa League football will also be on offer next season.

Stassin has progressed through Belgium’s youth levels and has a senior cap. His age, profile and output align with Sunderland’s recruitment model, aiming for immediate impact and future resale value.

The Black Cats remain active, with Florent Ghisolfi working to reduce the price of Geertruida after his loan from RB Leipzig. The Dutch defender is valued at around £20million and is currently at the World Cup.

Sunderland are also among the admirers of Bologna’s Swedish international Emil Holm, who spent last season on loan at Juventus. His valuation is thought to be in the £10million to £20million range. The club recruited successfully in that bracket last season, adding Nordi Mukiele and Omar Alderete.
