Sunderland's squad valuation has risen after a seventh-placed Premier League finish, with fresh comparisons to top-flight rivals as they prepare for a first Europa League season.

Transfermarkt's latest estimates put Manchester City at €1.32bn, Arsenal at €1.25bn and Chelsea at €1.11bn.

Sunderland are assessed at €386.43m, behind Everton at €443.15m and ahead of Leeds United at €358.80m.

The Black Cats secured only the second European entry in their history, and the first since the 1973 FA Cup winners competed in the Cup Winners' Cup the following season.

Last summer's overhaul featured club-record deals for Enzo Le Fee and Habib Diarra, the capture of Getafe defender Omar Alderete, Dutch pair Robin Roefs and Brian Brobbey, and the signing of Granit Xhaka after his spell at Bayer Leverkusen.

Regis Le Bris' squad is not expected to face as hectic a window as last year, yet there is an understanding that further strengthening is required to build on a memorable campaign.
