Sunderland are on course for record revenues following their Premier League return, with on-field gains fuelling rapid growth. According to Football Insider, the club are set to post a new high this season.

Latest accounts for 2024-25 show income rising from £38.2m to £40.3m in the promotion campaign, and the current top-flight take is expected to exceed the £126m club record set in 2016-17.

Régis Le Bris’s side sit 11th after a dramatic 2-1 win at St James’s Park. Holding that spot could be worth more than £130m in prize money and broadcast income.

Brian Brobbey’s late derby winner sparked wild scenes, the striker tore off his shirt in front of the Newcastle end and beat his chest. The clip quickly went viral.

“Not for that. I trained hard, yeah, I trained very hard,” he said. “I have been to the gym a lot. Naturally, I was very happy. It’s a derby.” He was speaking to ESPN.

“No, that doesn’t have to have anything to do with the Netherlands at all. I was just very happy.”

Such an uplift would strengthen sustainability and transfer scope as sporting director Florent Ghisolfi refines the recruitment model. The league’s distribution means even mid-table brings substantial returns.
