According to Bild, Sunderland are monitoring Bayer Leverkusen winger Ernest Poku, with a €25 million fee under discussion.

The club have yet to decide whether to pursue a deal for the 22-year-old.

Poku is among several Leverkusen players who could depart this summer as Die Werkself look to trim their squad.

The winger joined Leverkusen last summer from Dutch side AZ for a reported €10 million.

He made 48 appearances in his first season, scoring five and providing eight assists across all competitions.
