Sunderland opened their summer with Belgium international Thomas Meunier on a free, and there is optimism that a second signing is close. TransferMarkt figures show the Black Cats sit £19m in profit for the window after Eliezer Mayenda joined Rennes.
Meunier left Lille and will link up with his new team-mates in the United States in the coming days. Defensive focus has turned to Toulouse left-back Dayann Methalie, with talks between the clubs reported to be ongoing.
Among Sunderland’s rivals, Tottenham have the biggest loss at £159m, with Manchester City at £130.3m and Chelsea at £128.9m.
Nottingham Forest lead the profits at £123.4m, ahead of Aston Villa on £103.7m and Newcastle United on £49.3m. Fulham are £3.4m in credit, while Crystal Palace are level.
Elsewhere, Liverpool’s balance shows an £88.8m loss, Arsenal are £36m down and Brighton are £38.75m in the red. Ipswich Town are £77.5m down and Everton’s figure is a £56m loss.
