Here are the top stories from the recent moves.

Mexico remains number one, Canada recovers second place

Reigning Concacaf Gold Cup and Nations League winners Mexico (2,024) retained the number one spot following back-to-back draws in friendlies against Japan and Korea Republic, respectively.

Fellow FIFA World Cup 26 co-hosts Canada (1,824) rose to second overall after away wins against Romania and Wales in international friendlies.

Panama (1,779), the United States (1,726), and Costa Rica (1,691) round out the top five. Honduras (1,569), Jamaica (1,553), Haiti (1,411), Guatemala (1,409), and Trinidad and Tobago (1,319) complete the top ten.

El Salvador is the only team that climbed in the Central America Top 10

El Salvador (1,206) is the only team to move up in the Central America top ten, jumping up to fifth place in the subregion.

Panama, Costa Rica, Honduras, and Guatemala begin the top four in Central America. Nicaragua (1,149), #16 overall, and #27 Belize (732) complete the list.

Jamaica keeps the lead, while Haiti and Suriname jump a place in the Caribbean Top 10

Top ten overall ranked Jamaica, Haiti, and Trinidad and Tobago begin the top ten list in the Caribbean. #11 Suriname (1,282) and #12 Curaçao (1,246) complete the top five.

#14 Martinique (1,202), #15 Guadeloupe (1,152), #17 Guyana (1,057), #18 Dominican Republic (1,044), and #19 Cuba (1,019) complete the top ten in the subregion.

Suriname's win in the Qualifiers leads the biggest movers list

One spot was the maximum any nation moved up or down in the latest rankings update. Leading the list of improved nations is Suriname after an unbeaten start to the Final Round of the Concacaf Qualifiers to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

A nil-nil home draw with Panama, and a 2-1 victory at El Salvador, has Suriname positioned in first place in Group A after the September FIFA international fixtures.

With the top spot offering a direct berth to the FIFA World Cup, Suriname has placed itself in pole position for what could be a historic qualification.

El Salvador's victory over Guatemala was the biggest upset

#14 El Salvador provided the biggest upset by winning 1-nil away at #8 Guatemala in the opening matchday of the Final Round of the Concacaf Qualifiers to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Harold Osorio’s match-winning goal in the 79th minute delivered a winning start and an important result in a high-stakes encounter. Those three points earned have La Selecta second in Group A, one point removed from the top spot and the direct qualification.
