MIAMI — Suriname will continue its qualification hopes for the FIFA World Cup 2026 when it takes on Bolivia in the Semi-final of Path B in the FIFA World Cup 2026 Play-Off Tournament on Thursday at Monterrey Stadium in Monterrey, Mexico. 

The Natio delivered a strong effort to obtain the direct qualification by finishing second place in Group A during the Final Round of Concacaf Qualifiers to the 2026 FIFA World Cup

During the Concacaf Qualifiers, Suriname was one of the sides most active on the ball with 4,488 passes to rank third among all teams. Shaquille Pinas led all players with 629 passes.

Etienne Vaessen had 20 saves in the Qualifiers and will seek to provide more important moments as his nation chases history. 

Richonell Margaret, who led Suriname with three goals in the Final Round of Concacaf Qualifiers, also headlines the call-ups for the Play-Off tournament.

Suriname is seeking to secure its first FIFA World Cup participation and needs only two more victories to accomplish it. Drawn into Pathway 2, Suriname meets Bolivia for the chance to play Iraq on Tuesday and book a place in the field of 48 teams that will participate in football’s worldwide showcase this summer.
