It’s been a busy summer transfer window for Paris Saint-Germain, with several high-profile players departing the club for lofty fees. The latest is 18-year-old Ibrahim Mbaye, who will join Aston Villa for a reported fee of €55 million.
PSG signed Mbaye in 2018, and the Senegal international came up through the youth ranks at PSG before making a total of 42 first-team appearances for the reigning French and European champions. Last season, Mbaye recorded three goals and two assists in Ligue 1 competition. In the UEFA Champions League, Mbaye only featured in four of 17 matches.
Despite interest from Liverpool FC, Mbaye is off to Aston Villa for a substantial transfer fee, and according to Djamel on the social media platform X, he has completed the second part of his medical and is expected to sign his contract on Sunday.
Mbaye will likely play against former teammate Bradley Barcola this season, with the Frenchman making the move from PSG to Liverpool.
Barcola also completed a medical on Sunday, and an official announcement is expected in the coming days. The 23-year-old winger leaves PSG for a reported €145 million, including add-ons.
Despite the departures of Barcola and Mbaye, PSG’s primary attack is still in place. Ousmane Dembélé, the reigning Ballon d’Or winner, still leads the front line, with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia on the left wing and Désiré Doué on the right. PSG also signed Mika Godts from Ajax and Maghnes Akliouche from AS Monaco this summer.
PSG opened their Ligue 1 campaign with two draws against Stade Rennais and Lille. Up next is AS Monaco on September 4.
