According to Diario Do Peixe, Talents Sports filed legal action on six July against Santos, seeking R$ 1,007,398.70 in unpaid commission from the January 2021 sale of Lucas Veríssimo to Benfica.
Lucas Veríssimo moved for 6.5 million euros, about R$ 41 million at the time. Then-president Andres Rueda later outlined the deal’s structure, saying they secured improved terms and reduced commissions.
He said Benfica’s payments were set over five years with roughly 75% due in 2021, and the player’s share was cut from 15% to 10%.
Court filings state Santos agreed to pay four monthly instalments of R$ 500,000 between January and April 2021 to Talents Sports and Energy Empreendimentos e Participações, who worked together on the player’s career. None was paid.
On 14 January 2022, the parties struck a fresh deal to settle the debt with a single payment of R$ 550,000 on 31 March 2022, which was again unpaid. Talents Sports no longer represents Lucas Veríssimo, who remains with Energy, and the company says it repeatedly contacted the club’s legal and finance departments without response.
The claim also seeks indexation by the IPCA, a one percent monthly penalty, and legal costs.
