Terrão graduate tops Corinthians midfield scoring charts since 2021

On the evening of last Sunday (15), Corinthians faced São Bernardo FC at the Primeiro de Maio Stadium, ABC Paulista, in a match valid for the eighth and final round of the 2026 Campeonato Paulista, and ended up triumphing with a score of 1 x 0. The result placed the Alvinegro in fifth position at the end of the state championship's first phase with 14 points (four wins, two draws, and two losses – 10 goals scored and six conceded).

Corinthians' goal was scored by midfielder André, 22 minutes into the second half, after a play at the edge of the area, where the number 49 struck hard into the left corner of Alex Alves. With this goal, the Son of Terrão became the third midfielder with the most goals – four in 20 games – for the Parque São Jorge club in the decade, that is, from 2021 onwards. He is only behind Maycon and Paulinho, with 10 and six goals in 140 and 52 matches, respectively. André, in turn, equaled Gabriel and Breno Bidon, who have the same number of goals with the Corinthians jersey in this period in 55 and 109 games, respectively. Last night, the young player returned to the field after a week away due to a ligament injury in his left ankle.

André was promoted to the Corinthians professional squad in mid-September 2025, after being observed by coach Dorival Júnior. The Son of Terrão had been standing out in the Under-20 team, which at the time had just recovered from a knee injury – causing him to miss the 2025 Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior.

His promotion occurred amid various financial difficulties at Corinthians, which was under a FIFA sanction due to a million-dollar debt with Santos Laguna, Mexico, for the signing of Félix Torres in January 2024. As a result, André Luiz became a 'homegrown reinforcement' and has since been fundamental in the professional squad of Corinthians, playing as a second midfielder, frequently reaching the area and with good physical strength, enhancing his tackling ability.

Since his promotion, he has participated in the victories of the 2025 Copa do Brasil, against Vasco da Gama, at Maracanã, and the 2026 Supercopa do Brasil, against Flamengo, at the Mané Garrincha Stadium in Brasília. According to Meu Timão, recently, the player was approached by Inter Milan, Italy – information from Samir Carvalho, from UOL Esporte, indicates that the offer was 15 million euros (R$ 93 million).
