Terrão graduates score first pro goals, praise Dorival Júnior’s impact

On the evening of this Thursday (5th), Corinthians faced Capivariano at the Neo Química Arena, in a match valid for the sixth round of the first phase of the 2026 Paulista Championship and won 3-0. The goals for the Alvinegro were scored by midfielder Dieguinho, as well as forwards Gui Negão and Kayke. With the victory, the Corinthians team jumps to fourth place with 11 points (three wins, two draws, and one loss – nine scored and five conceded).

Right after the final whistle, still on the field, midfielder Dieguinho and forward Kayke, who scored their first goals as professionals, gave an exclusive interview to TNT Sports and celebrated the special day. The two "Filhos do Terrão" were also asked about the importance of coach Dorival Júnior in their daily lives with the young players raised in the youth academy.

Both began to gain space in the main team precisely after the arrival of the coach in April of last year. Kayke, at 21 years old, mentioned that he had been pushing himself to score his first goal as a professional athlete: “I think it's a very special moment for us, we had been taking advantage of the training. Diego and I were the only ones who hadn't scored in the professional team yet, and we were kind of pushing ourselves because of that, but I think it happened tonight because everything is done by God's plans and it couldn't have been better.”

“I think that since he (Dorival) arrived here, he has been very careful with us. He gave us a lot of confidence, he gave me more opportunities here, managed to play some starting games in the past. I had some playing time, and I think what he does with us is very important, to give confidence day by day, so we can come here to the game and do our best.”

In turn, Dieguinho dedicated his first goal as a professional to his family and emphasized the importance of Dorival Júnior in his development. The young player also mentioned that he hopes for the recovery of Kaio César, who left the field injured at the beginning of the game: “First of all, thank God for everything he does in my life. Like he (Kayke) said, we just needed to score a goal and on the same night we managed to do it. And I wanted to dedicate this goal to my family who is always with me, regardless of the situation, whether it's good or bad, they are always by my side.”

“And there was no better day to score the goal, at home with this wonderful crowd who deserve it. I'm also very sad about Kaio's situation, I hope it's nothing serious, and that he returns to the field soon. Since he arrived, he gives us this opportunity, he gives us this support, lets us play calmly, and I think this is very important for those who are coming up from the youth academy on this day“, concluded the number 61.

After defeating Capivariano at the Neo Química Arena, Corinthians remains focused on the Paulista Championship. Next Sunday (8th), at 8:30 PM (Brasília time), the Alvinegro will face Palmeiras in Itaquera, for the seventh round of the first phase of the state championship.
