Tetê’s European journey after Grêmio sale, with a 2026 return possible

Grêmio are moving to re-sign 25-year-old Tetê, sold to Europe before a senior debut. According to Globo.com, after spells at five clubs in five countries since early 2019, he could return in early 2026.
The academy product trained with Brazil under Tite at 18. In early 2019 a lack of first-team chances saw him join Shakhtar Donetsk for €10 million, R$ 42 million at the time, without playing professionally for Grêmio.
He debuted in April 2019 and, across three years at Shakhtar, made 108 appearances with 31 goals and 13 assists, winning four domestic trophies.
In March 2022 he left under FIFA’s regulation amid the Russia-Ukraine conflict and joined Lyon, initially to season’s end then extended. He logged 11 games, two goals and four assists before moving to Leicester.
He scored on a winning Leicester debut, but minutes dwindled. He ended with one in 14 as they were relegated, and was one of seven released. Galatasaray then paid 3.1 million, R$ 16.6 million, and he delivered 45 games, three goals, five assists plus the league and the Super Cup in Türkiye.
Mid last year Athletico-PR tried to bring him back, but he joined Panathinaikos. In a season and a half there, wearing No 10, he has largely started. In this year’s second half he began 24 of 27 matches, and though on two goals he leads the team with seven assists.
