Both Ipswich and Leicester have plenty to play for this season, but which of their players are set to miss the clash at Portman Road this weekend?

Ipswich Town will be looking to keep the pressure on Middlesbrough in the battle to secure automatic promotion into the Premier League with a positive result against Leicester City this weekend.

Ipswich are third in the table heading into the clash with the Foxes, and they're in a confident mood having won their last three matches in the Championship.

That strong run of results has seen them move to within three points of Middlesbrough, and with a game in hand on them, Kieran McKenna's side have every chance of securing a return back into the top-flight at the first time of asking, following their relegation last season.

They're set to take on a Leicester City side that are battling to avoid relegation from the Championship, with a six-point deduction earlier in this year's campaign potentially proving costly.

The Foxes are winless from their last nine matches in the second-tier, and currently occupy a spot in the Championship relegation zone, which will be of great concern for their supporters heading into the final 11 matches of the 2025/26 season.

Some key players from both teams are potentially set to be ruled out of the clash between both teams at Portman Road this weekend, and we'll take you through the notable absentees.

Jaden Philogene

The first of Ipswich's absentees for the match against Leicester is Jaden Philogene, with the winger being hit with a knee injury against Blackburn Rovers back in January.

In a previous update, Kieran McKenna revealed that the club's medical staff are trying to "rebuild him up" ahead of the promotion run-in.

"We're trying to rebuild him up now after the setback that he had, but he's not back with the group yet."

Speaking in a pre-match press conference on Friday, McKenna revealed that Philogene was making progress in his recovery, but isn't set to feature against Leicester this weekend.

Philogene has netted ten goals for Ipswich this season, and will have a key role to play in their bid for promotion once he returns from his injury lay-off.

Conor Townsend

The full-back hasn't featured in a competitive match for Ipswich this season, which comes after he suffered a serious ACL injury in a pre-season match against French side, Auxerre.

Townsend has plenty of experience in the Championship, and would have been a useful option to have for Kieran McKenna in the promotion run-in, but it seems unlikely that he'll return to the squad anytime soon, as he continues his recovery.

Ashley Young

The experienced and versatile defender hasn't been seen in the Ipswich matchday squad since a brief appearance against Bristol City in January, and it was revealed that his hip injury was worse than originally feared.

The former England international is ruled out of this weekend's clash with the Foxes, with McKenna confirming that in a pre-match press conference.

Young signed for Ipswich back in July 2025, and has gone on to make 15 appearances in all competitions, although it remains to be seen as to whether he'll add to that tally before the 2025/26 league campaign reaches a conclusion.

Asmir Begovic

Begovic has made ten appearances in all competitions for Leicester this season, but was ruled out of their defeat to Norwich City with an ankle injury. It seems unlikely that the experienced shot-stopper will return to action in time to face promotion-chasing Ipswich this weekend.

Leicester boss Gary Rowett revealed in a pre-match press conference, that he presumes Begovic is out of the clash with the Tractor Boys.

Harry Souttar

Souttar has had plenty of injury problems in the last year, and hasn't featured at all for Leicester in the 2025/26 season, which will be frustrating as he'll certainly feel as though he can make a positive difference in their bid to avoid relegation.

The central defender ruptured his Achilles tendon in December 2024, and a return date for the Australian international hasn't been confirmed by the club or Gary Rowett as of yet.

Hamza Choudhury

Choudhury is a versatile option that Rowett could certainly benefit from using with the busy schedule from now until the end of this year's league campaign, but he remains ruled out of action for this weekend's clash with Ipswich.

The Bangladeshi international picked up a knee injury in the early stages of Leicester's 2-0 defeat against fellow relegation-threatened rivals, Charlton Athletic.

Choudhury has made 24 appearances in total for Leicester this term, and the club's supporters will be eager to see him return at the earliest of opportunities.

Aaron Ramsey

The Burnley loanee's time at the King Power Stadium has been blighted with plenty of injury problems, which won't have done his development any good.

The midfielder has had two separate spells out of the Leicester team with a hamstring injury, and Ramsey hasn't featured in the Foxes matchday squad since a brief appearances in a 2-1 win against Derby County back in December 2025.
