How did we play?
Well enough to win the game, with Blackburn not causing too much of a threat and lucky not to be down to ten men earlier than they were.
What was the best bit about the day?
After lots of extended periods of dithering on the edge of the Blackburn box, the introduction of Marcondes meant we finally put together an incisive move and Crnac finished it off confidently with a strike that deserved to win a game and frustratingly didn’t.
What was the worst bit about the day?
It’s the last 30 seconds of injury time and we are in possession of the ball against ten men… knock it about between each other, take it to the corner, hoof it long, do anything other than attempt to dribble it past several of their players and inevitably lose it.
Hero of the match
Jose Cordoba had a great game and would be in with a shout to keep his place now Doyle’s suspension is over.
How do you rate Ewood Park as an away day?
A scenic train journey from my overnight stop in Manchester, a friendly pre-match pub halfway between station and ground, a pleasant greeting from the stewards and a perfectly fine view of the action from behind the goal all in the spring sunshine, not much to complain about there. But wait! Of course it was yet another 12.30 kick-off which once again reduced the crowd and killed the atmosphere in both ends. Home and away fans sang together that “Sky TV, is fucking shit”.
Summary in Five Words
Keep the ball next time.
