The Round of 16 in Leagues Cup 2024 didn't disappoint with plenty of breathtaking goals scored as teams booked their places to the last eight of the tournament.
The latest round of matches saw MLS giants like Columbus Crew, Seattle Sounders and LAFC clinch a spot in the Quarter-finals thanks to brilliant performances from their star players. Diego Rossi bagged a brace that included the winning goal vs the Lionel Messi-less Inter Miami while Jordan Morris and Denis Bouanga also scored twice in their respective knockout matches.
Former Monterrey forward Rodrigo Aguirre scored one of the best goals of the tournament thus far against St Louis CITY by displaying great skill and composure in the final moments of Club America's 4-2 over the MLS outfit.
Here are the best goals from the Leagues Cup Round of 16.
It's not that often that we see a goalkeeper grab an assist. However, Luis Malagon did just that by setting up Aguirre in the dying moments against St Louis.Although the Eagles were already in front 3-2, this brilliant piece of skill from Aguirre secured America's place in the as he sat down former Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Roman Burki in the process.
Crew forward Diego Rossi was vital in the Crew's comeback against Miami at Lower.com Field. The former LAFC forward tied things up with a tidy finish at the back post before flying past Jordi Alba to tuck away a well-placed effort to send Columbus to the Quarter-finals.
In terms of solo goals, it doesn't get much better than this effort from LAFC's Cristian Olivera. After latching on to Ryan Hollingshead's headed pass, Olivera then glides by a would-be San Jose defender before curling an effort into the far corner to open the scoring at BMO Stadium.
Take a bow, Paulinho.Even though Toluca went crashing out of Leagues Cup at the hands of MLS side Colorado Rapids, they still have this wonderful goal to look back on before they resume Liga MX play. Ex-Monterrey full-back Jesus Gallardo sent in an inviting low cross into the Colorado penalty area that Paulinho managed to direct past Zack Steffen with a beautiful back-heeled effort.
Philadelphia needed a striker to step up after the departure of Julian Carranza, and Tai Baribo did just that against FC Cincinnati.Baribo doubled the Union's advantage in the second half with a absolute peach of a strike that Roman Celentano couldn't keep out. Baribo managed to secure a brace 20 minutes later in the match to reinstate Philadelphia's lead as they would go on to advance to the Quarter-finals.
