A reflection of hard work, commitment, and defensive reliability, Damaris Godínez has become one of the standout defenders in Liga MX Femenil. On top of that, she’s also one of the most beloved players in the women’s league, especially by the Rojiblanca Nation, who recognize everything ‘Dama’ has given to El Rebaño Sagrado.

But none of this would have been possible without that first opportunity that allowed Godínez to showcase her talent. It was January 7, 2018, when Liga MX Femenil was introduced to a fierce defender who started as part of León’s back line to face Rayadas. That’s right—on a day like today, eight years ago, Damaris made her professional debut as a footballer.

That Sunday morning, ‘Dama’ stepped onto the pitch wearing her characteristic number 3 and played all 90 minutes at El Barrial, marking the beginning of her journey in the women’s league. Interestingly, one of her teammates on that León squad is now also her teammate at Guadalajara: Joselyn De la Rosa.

From that moment on, nothing has stopped Godínez’s growth. Now in her 14th tournament as a Chivas player, she knows what it’s like to lift the Liga MX Femenil title and also the Campeón de Campeonas trophy with Guadalajara. A constant presence in the Tapatío starting lineup, Damaris continues to build her legacy match after match in the women’s league, writing a story that inspires both players and fans.
