Will Lankshear's time at Oxford United has been rather productive through four games

Having picked up their first point of the season against Coventry City, Oxford United are looking to carry their momentum into another tough battle against Leicester City.

Gary Rowett's side were on the wrong side of defeats by a one-goal margin in each of their opening three games this season, so it came as a relief to finally get off the mark points-wise against a Coventry side who many are touting to finish in a similar position to last season, if not higher.

Performances have been solid, and the loan deal of Will Lankshear from Tottenham Hotspur is looking like a solid bit of business, as the 20-year-old already has a couple of goals in his opening month at the club.

After picking up a goal in that 2-2 draw with Coventry, Leicester will have to be wary of his threat in front of goal, and if they can quiet him down, they'll be in with a great opportunity to pick up win number four of the Championship campaign.

Leicester, of course, have made a strong start to life back in the Championship under Marti Cifuentes and will hold every intention of continuing in that vein when they travel to Oxford this weekend, but the U's have the potential to ruffle a feather or two if Lankshear can keep up his red-hot early-season form infront of goal.

Lankshear was a victim of the incredibly saturated striker position at West Bromwich Albion in the latter half of last season.

The exciting attacker arrived at the Hawthorns having already played a handful of games for Spurs that season, and even scored in the Europa League against Galatasaray, but he made just four starts for the Baggies and ended the season having failed to score during the spell.

Now, he's at Oxford, a side that was in desperate need of a focal point up front going into their second season in the second tier, after last year's top scorer only managed six goals.

Lankshear has been entrusted from the off in each of the Yellows' opening four league games, scoring against Hull City and last time out versus Coventry. He's one of the main options in his position in the squad, and he's repaying that faith and showing why his time at West Brom should be quickly forgotten.

Keeping Will Lankshear quiet will be key to a Leicester City victory

Lankshear and Cameron Brannagan are the only two players to have scored for the Yellows in league action this season.

So, whilst Oxford still have other attacking weapons they can hit Marti Cifuentes' side with, keeping Lankshear at bay will be a big part in ensuring three points and a potential clean sheet for the Foxes at the Kassam Stadium on Saturday.

After a shaky opening couple of games, Leicester have been solid at the back in each of their wins to-nil against Charlton Athletic and Birmingham, and you'd expect that would carry on into a game in which they are favoured to come out on top.

However, Oxford created chances and performed well against Leicester's Midlands rivals, Coventry, and had chances to nick a point away at Birmingham the week before. If Gary Rowett's side can stay in the game, in front of their home fans, they could possibly earn a point, or even more.
