He also expressed his sadness for Brendan Rodgers leaving the club at the end of October, stating that his decision to sign for Celtic had a great deal to do with his views on the former Celtic manager.
Speaking the the media ahead of Sweden’s World Cup qualifying matches against Switzerland and Slovenia, the Celtic midfielder who is 20 games into his Celtic career, having scores six goals, has this to say about the eventful first few months of his time in Glasgow.

“There has been a lot of noise around the club. But Celtic are a very big club and there are an extremely large number of fans who care with all their hearts,” Nygren said as reported by Daily Record.
“We missed out on the Champions League place and have lost a few games, and then Brendan Rodgers resigned. But for me personally, it has still been good. That’s just how it is when you are at a big club because so many people care about it.
“I think that’s also the beauty of the sport and that we have such a large following who love Celtic. That’s why it’s a great honour to represent that club.
“I was sad that Brendan Rodgers left because I liked him and think he is a really good manager. He was a big reason why I went to Celtic. I got a really good feeling for him. But I have had a lot of managers in my career and I will probably have even more. I focus on what I can do and contribute what I can on the pitch.
“And the reason I believe we will turn the negativity around is because we are the best team in the country.”

Nygren was regarded as an outstanding purchase and something of a bargain buy at £1.75m and while there are aspects of his game that have been impressive, it’s fair to say that he hasn’t entirely won over the support in his opening months wearing the Hoops.
His six goal total for a midfielder is on the face of it rather impressive but he could easily have had double that total going on missed chances.
It can take time to settle into a new environment and at Celtic that is always going to be challenging, especially in season’s like this when the Celtic family has been divided on so many aspects. He’s also playing in a team that has gaps in various key positions within the squad – striker and on the right wing with Martin O’Neill referring to the former yesterday and Daizen Maeda the latter.

Nygren also could be the kind of player who will fit perfectly into the system that Wilfried Nancy is about to deploy if or when we arrives at Lennoxtown.
We might actually see the best of Benjamin Nygren under the new Celtic manager. Let’s hope so.
