FC Barcelona are blessed to have an academy like La Masia, which is a gift that keeps on giving. The academy has been home to some of the best players ever to play the sport and is now in the midst of producing another golden generation.
One of those expected to be a future star was Dro Fernandez. Already given considerable importance by Hansi Flick, the young attacking midfielder has been in the first-team picture since the start of the 2025-26 season.
Thus, it is quite disappointing that the teenager wants to leave the club in January and is now closing in on a move to French giants PSG. Hansi Flick, of all people, expressed his disappointment in the youngster.

Now, Barcelona Atlètic coach Juliano Belletti was asked about Dro Fernandez’s decision to leave Barcelona. As quoted by SPORT, he said:
“He didn’t tell me anything; I found out from my staff, who told me first. There are many good players here. I think the club, especially at this moment, is very well off in this regard.”
“We see how Juan Hernández, Dani, Cuenca, Álvaro… are playing. There are many options here. There is very strong competition within the club, and that’s good for the coach. And for the players, because it pushes them to improve. We all work to prepare them for the first team.”
Juliano Belletti has done a brilliant job with the quarry team since taking over at the start of the season. He has overseen the emergence of many young players, and the likes of Dani Rodriguez have been very impressive this season.
As the coach eloquently puts it, Dro’s decision to leave Barcelona is not necessarily as much a loss to the club as it is to the player. There is no club in the world at the same level that platforms youngsters as well as the Catalan giants, and if not Dro, the next youngster will make that place his own in the near future.
