Igor Thiago has signed a new long-term Brentford contract after a striking comeback season, with the striker among the league’s leading scorers.
According to Hounslow Herald, the 24-year-old has committed to west London until summer 2031, with an option of a further year.
Thiago has 17 goals in 26 Premier League matches, bettered only by Erling Haaland on 22. Head coach Keith Andrews hailed his influence and connection with the squad and supporters, saying the new deal is thoroughly deserved.
Brentford agreed a deal in February 2024, completing a £30m summer move on a five-year contract. A pre-season knee injury restricted him to eight outings without a goal, and a joint infection after his November 2024 debut at Everton kept him out until the final four games.
Andrews kept him heavily involved in drills during rehab, groundwork that has underpinned his surge. In November he became the first Brentford player to win Premier League Player of the Month.
After losing Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa last summer, having shared 39 league goals in 2024-25, Andrews reshaped the attack. Brentford now go longer and break quicker, with Thiago a focal point who links play, competes in duels and helps defend set pieces. The Bees sit seventh with 12 games left, and if Europe beckons, his role will be defining.
