Former Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund defender Thomas Meunier has signed a two-year deal at the Stadium of Light, becoming Sunderland's first addition of the summer.

Sunderland will enter the Europa League as novices, only their second European campaign and first since 1973. According to Sunderland Echo, head coach Regis Le Bris can still call on players with continental know-how, and Meunier's arrival adds to that pool.

The Belgium international has 91 appearances across European qualifying, group and knockout stages. Only one current Black Cats player has featured more often.

Wilson Isidor has three European outings, two in the Europa League and one in Champions League qualifying. Trai Hume has five, one in Champions League qualifying and four in Conference League qualifying.

Melker Ellborg has seven, five in the Europa League and two in Champions League qualifying. Enzo Le Fee has nine, all in the Europa League.
