Former Chelsea star netted dramatic winner

England boss Thomas Tuchel and his United States counterpart Mauricio Pochettino both watched on as Ben Chilwell scored the winner in Crystal Palace’s 3-2 comeback at Fulham.

The German, who was also in attendance for Palace’s first home game of the season, was perhaps expecting to see another impressive display from Adam Wharton, who caught the eye in that 4-1 loss to Manchester City but was largely limited on Saturday afternoon.

Instead it was 19-year-old Fulham midfielder Josh King who was the highlight for the hosts, opening the scoring and playing an integral part in Cesar Palacios’ first Premier League goal.

King was one of four young players invited by Tuchel to train with England in Florida ahead of the World Cup.

Tyrick Mitchell, who scored a Premier League brace for the first time in his career, was an unlikely Palace hero, but his is a name that occasionally pops up in conversations about under-rated players who might deserve more of an England look-in.

The Palace academy product is highly-regarded by Eagles supporters, who expressed their appreciation with a chant of “he’s one of our own”.
