Ben Chilwell returns to England and signs for Crystal Palace

Ben Chilwell has left Strasbourg after one season. The England left-back, 29 with 21 caps, has joined Crystal Palace. The Alsace club said on Tuesday that the move had been completed but did not disclose terms.

Chilwell, formerly of Chelsea, arrived last year and made 34 appearances for Strasbourg, supplying three assists.

His exit deepens an ongoing overhaul at Strasbourg.

The club have announced 17 arrivals and seen 23 players leave, including Valentín Barco, Guéla Doué and Diego Moreira, all sold for significant fees.

There were late moves too, such as Soumaïla Coulibaly’s loan to Watford, concluded on Tuesday evening. In total, Strasbourg have posted more than €100 million in profit.
