West Ham supporters have protested and called for the board to resign ahead of Saturday’s away fixture against Crystal Palace.

BBC Sport claims that thousands of fans marched towards the London Stadium holding a variety of banners and flags calling for chairman David Sullivan and vice-chair Karren Brady to step down.

The protests come two weeks after the Hammers’ fan advisory board issued a vote of no confidence in the club’s board.

Two separate protests took place, with fan group Hammers United organising the larger one. They claimed it was ‘the start of a sustained campaign and a series of protests which must be vigorous’.

“If we are going to get our club back, our fanbase is going to have to fight,” they said. “With Brady and Sullivan at the helm, our club is going to die. It is in serious decline and dying a slow death.

“With thousands of long-term, time-served fans walking away, another relegation fight beckoning and another early cup exit, we cannot allow this to happen on our watch.

“We must show the world that Brady and Sullivan’s position is untenable, and they must step aside for the good of the club.

“They must have no more involvement in the running of West Ham United, which must be handed over to professionals with the expertise and drive to move the club forward.”

West Ham have had a challenging start to the new campaign, registering just three points from four Premier League matches and conceding 11 goals.

Manager Graham Potter is facing serious scrutiny for failing to revive the club’s fortunes after taking over as manager in January.

His future at the London Stadium is not thought to hinge on the result of Saturday’s match, but the club is still making contingency plans.

West Ham are considering turning to Slaven Bilic, who managed the club between 2015 and 2017.

Bilic did well in his debut campaign, but struggled to maintain the standards after the club’s move to the London Stadium, resulting in his dismissal at the start of his third season.

Nuno Espirito Santo, who was recently sacked by Nottingham Forest, has also been linked. It is unclear whether the Portuguese would be open to taking a new role so soon.
