According to Leeds Live, most Leeds United players return to Thorp Arch on July 13 for pre-season, with World Cup participants back later. If any of the four reach the latter knockout rounds, they could miss the United States trip, opening places for others.

Harry Gray and academy goalkeeper Rory Mahady were on last summer’s Germany tour and are expected to be included again, while Isaac Schmidt, Largie Ramazani and Jack Harrison are likely to be involved.

Jayden Lienou was omitted last year after joining from Manchester City a week before the squad flew to Stockholm. The left-back has since impressed in the youth ranks, trained with the first team and made two late-season benches. Wales boss Craig Bellamy handed him a first senior call-up last month, and he is likely to be on the America tour.

Alfie Cresswell has been name-checked by Daniel Farke in the second half of the season. The 18-year-old made the bench against Brighton and West Ham last month, and he might travel this time, particularly if Ao Tanaka is unavailable due to Japan’s potential World Cup run.

Max Wober might be a long shot and may not be a popular pick, but proving his fitness could be key to any sale, with a year left on his deal. A hamstring tear limited him to three senior games on loan at Werder Bremen, ending his World Cup hopes. He wants friendlies this summer after leaving before last year’s tour, but that is far from guaranteed.
