Khephren Thuram is set to undergo surgery at Juventus, a major blow that will keep the midfielder out of action until the start of next year.

Thuram is one of Juventus’ most important players and was viewed as a key figure who could make the Bianconeri much better as the season progressed. He missed the start of the campaign, but the club had expected him to recover and eventually return to the team.

The midfielder has been nursing a knee problem since the end of last season, with Juve initially confident that he would recover without requiring surgery. The Bianconeri believed his age would help him make a full recovery and tried to manage the problem accordingly.

Thuram forced to undergo surgery

However, several months have passed, and Thuram has not recovered as hoped. Juventus have now been forced to send him for surgery after their attempts to resolve the problem without a procedure failed.

Thuram has already met with a specialist, who examined his knee and prepared him for the procedure. The decision represents a significant setback for the midfielder and for a Juventus side that expected him to become an important player during the campaign.

According to Football Italia, Thuram is expected to undergo surgery today to correct the problem. The procedure will keep him out of action for the rest of 2026, meaning he will only return to the pitch next season.

Juventus suffer another injury blow

Thuram will become the second Juventus player to undergo surgery after Kenan Yildiz. However, his injury is considered even more serious than the problem suffered by the Turkish attacker.

The timing of Thuram’s absence is particularly disappointing for Juve, who had hoped he would recover and become available as the season progressed. Instead, they must now prepare to continue without one of their important midfield options for an extended period.

The Bianconeri will hope the surgery finally resolves Thuram’s knee problem and allows him to make a full recovery. His return will now be delayed until next season, leaving Juventus without his services for the remainder of 2026.
