Tiquinho Soares is trying to agree a contract termination with Santos so he can sign permanently for Fortaleza, according to Diário do Nordeste. The 35-year-old is prepared to waive part, but not all, of what he is owed on a deal running to the end of 2027.
He is on loan at Mirassol until the end of the year and has not established himself. Fortaleza explored a loan, but talks stalled over the sums demanded by Santos, with the Ceará side in Série B saying they cannot meet them.
Santos received R$ 3.3 million from Mirassol for the loan and have been paying the striker’s full salary. Any switch would also require Fortaleza to compensate Mirassol and cover a portion of costs, creating an impasse.
With the impasse, Soares kept training at Mirassol and is now pursuing termination as a route to join Fortaleza outright. That would leave only an agreement between player and club. Santos do not plan for his return.
He missed the start of 2026 at Santos with a calf oedema and worked separately. Once fit, he was on the bench against São Paulo in the Brasileiro, then was not selected again. He later lost the number nine shirt after Gabigol arrived.
Player and club also discussed a termination early in the year. Soares was willing to forgo almost half of what was due, but the board wanted more and talks collapsed.
Loaned to Mirassol in February, he has one goal in 10 appearances in 2026.
